This is by far the best park in the area! The playground is always immaculate and well-kept (although the bathrooms could use more attention) and the pond is beautiful and the ducks are super friendly. :)
Very nice place to walk. They have a paved track and a hiking trail. There's a playground for the kids. There is a pavilion for gatherings and very clean bathrooms in the pavilion. This park is well kept, clean.
Park roads & parking thoughtfully designed. However, for mega-event such as the total eclipse (2 min, 34 sec totality, give-or-take), exiting orderly, but way too long. Chat w/ sheriffs & troopers indicated about 90 mins to exit after fireworks -- but count on 2x that time for this event. They were right. Kudos to all the park staff, volunteers, traffic control folk -- & general friendliness & patience of all the locals in Athens TN!
Came for the eclipse -- Awe-inspiring event. Beautiful park: rolling hills, some trees, lots of grass, 4 ball fields, conference center, hiking/walking trails, great playground, small pond, creek alongside, adequate parking for most large events (fireworks, concerts, etc.) Clean, well maintained....
I was here for the 2017 total eclipse. From the brief visit, the park seems really nice. It is one of those massive fully developed parks. I noticed a disc golf course, baseball fields, a playground as some of the amenities. There was definitely plenty of grass fields for people to setup to view the eclipse.
Played a round of disc golf here for the first time. Wish we had a course like this in Chattanooga! Some challenging holes for sure. It's definitely well maintained.
